IIRC, never a sure thing, he said he walked in the desert for an hour, and he covered four and a half miles. He figured if he walked that pace for 16 hours a day, it would give him 72 miles a day, and therefore could finish in a month. Soemthing like that. You could google or search for his original thread.
He got quite upset when people pointed out that 72 miles a day in NH and ME was impossible and called them dream-killers or dream-trashers or something like that. Most here cautioned him, but a few sadists told him to go for it
