Default Help - Someone stole my trail name !

Iceman (The Original Since 1986) is in Pearisburg, VA and distressed to suddenly find an imposter appearing in the shelter logs as Iceman. It turns out someone named Caveman realized he had taken another hiker's name so he changed his name to Iceman (my trail name since 1986). This guy is about 2 -3 weeks ahead of me and has just started using my name. If anyone sees him please tell him to keep looking for a new name.

So for the record I started on April 5th and am known by my red, white, and blue American Flag do-rag. I know Andrew used Iceman in 1995 and is here on Whitebalze as IcemanAT95 which is cool but 2 Icemans on the trail at the same time???

I've been Lone Wolf since 1987. There have been quite a few since then. You need to get a name like Wingfoot.

    Default Theft of trail names.

Maybe legislation can remedy this grievance? Without vigorous enforcement, I'm sure such efforts would amount to nothing.

Hey at least you didn't choose the name "Frodo"! Imagine hiking the trail with (at least) 5 others w the same trailname.

BTW: there are 7 others in my local phone book with my "Real" name, & my name isn't John Smith or some other very popular name

Yeah, there is only one Wingnut, whoops I mean foot and everyone seems to know it. Never heard a hiker with that name, wonder why that is?

Try pronouncing it the way we called the iceman in Brooklyn when I was a kid "Ice-a-man"

Maybe you can become "The hiker formally Known as Iceman" or perhaps Ice Cream Cone? I can't believe this is a serious post....
There are so many miles and so many mountains between here and there that it is hardly worth thinking about

FINALLY!!!! The solution to people needing a trailname when someone steals theirs!! BECOME A WINGFOOT!! Dozens of Wingfoots (Wingfeet?) on the AT, on other trails, blue blazes, yellow blazes, hellfire blazes and just general blazing blazes!!!! No one can be mad at a gazillion Wingfeets (or whatever), and all of them combined will have every admirable trait possible!

Thanks, Wolf! Great idea. Love it.

Why would you want a name like that.

Default Thanks for the humor and feedback

First of all Top Gun stole my name after hearing of my winter escapades in the White Mountains in 1986. Actually I signed a release allowing them to use the name in the 1987 movie that was made a year after I became famous. My name was based on a character in a play by Eugene O'Neill that was written in 1939, published in 1940, and hit Broadway in 1946. It was made into a TV movie in 1960 but hit the big screen many years later.

The REAL Iceman (me) is at Bear's Den and the imposter appears to have melted in to thin air or changed his name yet again.

For those of you north of here, the Iceman Still Cometh.

BTW - I have not seen any 5'2" eldery and arrogant hikers on the trail but there are a ton of entries from Winfoot.

Lone Wolf - Had a beer with you at the Baja but could not stay for golf, sorry.

Actually, it appears that there is at least one other "Lone Wolf" (lonewolf02) registered here on Whiteblaze.

Maybe if there are enough Icemen on the A.T. it may serve to mitigate the effects of global warming? I believe 90°F is expected in The Green Diamond today. Walk on!

For weeks after that when my employees saw me in the hall they would say; “the Iceman cometh.” After that when it came time to sign registers that name seemed to fit.

If the person ahead of you is signing Iceman
you could simply sign IceMan or Ice Man or The Iceman etc...vary it a little
or go to your original .... The Iceman Cometh ...since 1986

    just a suggestion.
