July 1st, 2008 - A herd of Angora sheep were lead up to Jane Bald in order to start the Baa-tany Project. The multi-group program is a continuation of a previous project where sheep are being used to help keep the Roan Balds open.
The project was organized by the Tennessee Eastman Hiking Club, Friends of Roan Mountain, the Old Timers, Southern Appalchian Highlands Conservancy, ATC, Forest Service, Park Service, and other volunteers.
