Dear Appalachian Trail Museum Friends,
Here are a few of the many comments heard over last weekend's
activities ~ the AT Hall of Fame Banquet, the Saturday Children's Festival
& Exhibit Dedication, and the Sunday's Special Program:
Regarding the AT Hall of Fame Banquet:
Anonymous ~ It seems just like yesterday Jim you were sharing this brainstorm of yours,
and look how successful, meaningful, and well established it has become.
I saw how hard you and others were working last night--and I know much work
has taken place in the months preceding.
Jim Foster ~ It was a very successful evening.
We had a total of 99 attendees and/or tickets sold.
That's a new record, just edging out the first year, 2011.
Anon. ~ Kudos on a terrific effort that is such an important element of preserving
the Appalachian Trail's history and honoring those who have contributed so much
to making the A.T. the amazing phenomenon it has become.
Anon ~ The AT Hall of Fame Banquet has really become something
to look forward to. The AT Hall of Fame makes the history of the trail come alive !
Anon ~ Well done, Jim and the rest of the crew!
A wonderful event, again !
Regarding the entire weekend:
Anon ~ There were great vibes running through this joyful weekend.
The Museum, the Park, the County and all the volunteers have made it
such a positive place to be.
Anon ~ Larry, You are to blame for getting this crazy idea to fruition !
I want to pass along to you for review, the Banquet Program.

Throughout all the success our A. T. Museum enjoys, there remains that
one, solid AT element seen over and over ~ THE VOLUNTEER.
From all the volunteer docents who first greet visitors at the Museum door,
to the many "behind-the scene volunteers" whose myriad efforts, if written
on paper, would be way to long for this feeble email to contain. Then one
can not forget that host of financial volunteers whose contributions, not only
keep our doors open with coverage of daily operations, but continue to
make possible the expansion we are doing into the remainder of our building !
THANK YOU, volunteers, for our success. Your efforts were particularly
in full view last weekend -- our AT Hall of Fame Weekend !

Help Us Improve Blackburn - LETTER :
"On behalf of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, Chris and I
would like to ask for your support with a very important project.
The Club is undertaking a fundraising effort to create
a sustainable waste management system at the Blackburn Trail Center.
In other words we are finally going to install flush toilets!
In addition we are going to build a new pit toilet house for all
of our hikers to include heat and lights !
I know that this upgrade will benefit visitors and
future caretakers for years to come.
You can donate online at:
www.patc.net/donate (at the "select fund" menu choose Blackburn 21)
With fond regards, Chris and Sandi"

" Hello Everyone !
Attached is the itinerary for the IAT Annual General Meeting hosted by
IAT Ulster Ireland from September 19 to 25.
It would be great if you could attend or send a representative for at least
a day or two. It will no doubt be a lot of fun and a great opportunity
to network. We all know how much the Irish like to have a good time !
You can find a brief description of the event on the IAT website,
click on: http://www.iat-sia.org./
Speaking of website, I'd like to take this opportunity to inform you
that the IAT and the ATC have now exchanged website links.
The ATC link is on the left of our Homepage, while the IAT link
is found at the bottom of the ATC Community page, to view,

Later this fall, we will create a web page that describes our
common geology and the various friends and partners that form
our extended international community.
In the meantime, have a great summer with plenty of walking and
outdoor adventure ! And send us your stories to post on our website
