I went Commando as a young soldier in VN because of the monsoon rain, also when I did my mountain training in Ga where it rains a lot in March and April I still chafed. Since I have been wearing compression shorts I haven't experienced the chaffing. So my answer, Not going Commando!!

Went commando with a kilt in 2009. No better way to hike.

Kilt hiking as well this year. Never done a thru hike, or worn a kilt for that matter. Will be trial and error. Just hope I'm not flashing a whole bunch of people haha. Should be fun. As far as the undies go, I will have a pair of UnderArmour 6" boxer-briefs just in case.
