Anything else: hiking together with my wife, and really looking forward to 2012. Oh yeah, we are also from FL
My husband and I are planning a 2012 NOBO thru. We don't have trail names and have never ever done anything like this before. We are taking this year 2011 to get some miles under our belts and get in shape. Coming from North Dakota I have no xp with mountains so the AT will be the MOST challenging thing I have ever done in my life. Excitement can't even begin to describe how I am feeling right now. Only 11 months! Hoping to meet a lot of good people and learn what I am capable of.
This is where we throw our packs over the fence?
Trail name: start with 'Truth' and see what happens.

Other: Trying to get my nephew who will be graduating high school to come along but he seems tied up with making loot and playing the game. Also working on a close friend who suffers from a severe fear of heights. Odds are I'll be solo hiking. Name is from a Thoreau quote: "Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth."

Approach Trail - Haven't decided yet. I've section hiked most of GA already and a part of me wants to start at Springer because I want a true thru-hike. On the other hand, I'm a strong believer in hike your own hike and there are a couple of sections of GA - I really would prefer NOT to hike again. But I have a while before I make that decision!
