Hiking: Fascination of the abomination (embrace the suck!) . There is no sound of music on the appalachian trail ( embrace the suck!).
I have not hiked in this area since 2013 due to fire damage, but near Apache peak is one of the sketchiest stretches on the PCT from my memory. It seemed like a really easy spot to simply fall off the side of the trail, even in favorable conditions, for a number of miles. I can't imagine doing that when it's icy. A hiker died near there just this year.
