Are you talking to me? Because you quoted my post. But if your referring to my quote "2010 or bust". That is the year I am planning my thru hiker unless something drastic happens, like hell freezing over.Originally Posted by tiamalle

I really wish I could. But my job sucks. I only have two weeks vacation a year and one of those weeks is manditory for our shut down week. The other one I am trying to save for Trail Days.Originally Posted by tiamalle

Nice site! I'm not a thru hiker but been on several sections. As mentioned in another post "my job won't allow" (maybe after retirement ) It has always been a dream of my son's and mine to thru hike the AT. And we've always enjoyed meeting the thru hikers on our hikes. I haven't been on many hikes since my hiking buddy (my son) went to the Navy. This site brings back alot of great memories!
I am new to this site as well. I've been away from backpacking for quite some time but my impending retirement has got me thinking, once again, of that trail in the woods I heard about all those years ago.

Hi all, I joined this site a couple of days ago and thought I'd say hello! I just quit my full time job as a Microbiologist to start preparing for my thru hike in February (hopefully). I've had it with the rat race and have been wanting to hit the AT since I was 15 (I officially turn 30 in one week). There's so much more that I want to say but I just wanted to intoduce myself and hopefully dig into the other forums soon for some much needed advice.

Very glad to see you here. 99% of the folks in this place are the true salt of the Earth, and will help you in any way they can. Then, unfortunately, there's folks like me*!

*That was a joke. I kind of do that every now and then.
So enjoyed your adventure from the rat race, I have same attitude. Starting from Springer in Mar about 15. Maybe the weather here will give you a break on the start. Are you including spike wraps for your boots?

Hey guys what’s up? My name is Alex, I’m 25 and been living in LA for about the past 3 years. It’s a pretty awesome place to live! Not to mention some great trails to ride on. There’s this crazy one in Alta Dena I did recently, super fun!
I love music, live shows, the beach, hiking, surfing and mountain biking. I work for an awesome company; Klondike, yeah like the ice cream. Hehe…anywho, glad to have joined up with this community, hope to chat with you all soon.
hello everyone,
I'm peter.
I'm new to this site.
Howdy - wanted to say 'Hi' - lots of good information here. Thanks for pointing me in this directions, Attroll!

Just popping in here to say 'hi' and that I'm new! I'm guessing this thread serves as a sort of intro. I'm literally gearing up to start much longer hikes along the AT (I currently live in Atl, GA) and I figured if any place was a fount of wisdom, it would be here
I've been on here before, but that was about 3 years ago..man time flies and I ain't gettin any younger! Still can't let go of my dream to hike the AT or ,rather, the dream won't leave me alone... it's haunting me...
