They look you got from him while putting him on the dryer lid!
Yeah, he's a cutie. Here he's with his chicks.... last photo, promise. He is also known as the new breed of dog on the A.T., the Appalachian S*** Hound, for good reason - didn't bury it? - he found it, and enjoyed wearing it.

Smile, that is the cutest shot of your dog, honest to Pete! Totally and completely heat-warming. I needed that! Mame
"Live, Agnes, LIVE!"
Our shephard, named Arrow, is 11 years old and slowing down some. He's got more miles hiking than most of my friends do.
Well, thanks Auntie Mame
He is quite the momma to any animal smaller than himself - as long as it is not a dog.
LIHikers - nice pack for the pooch!

plenty of photos of Phoebe in my gallery - but this is one of my favorites. My wife and I went out to dinner, leaving the youngest at home with one of the older boys. We got home to find the older boy in the basement watching t.v. and Scott and Phoebe on the couch in the den.
It's the only time I've ever seen her "cuddle" - and I think it was only because Scott was in "her" spot on the couch! (couch has since been replaced - and she isn't allowed on the replacement!)
Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time.
Keep the photos coming. They are splendid, priceless. I have smiled, laughed, chuckled, and had a grand time looking that these. Wow, really, really neat. Great folks. Keep them coming. -SunnyWalker

Arrow is in deed a good looking dog who looks young for his age.
I don't know how to attach pictures so this site shows Winter. Winter is my 11 year old. http://groups.msn.com/OldGUYthenandnow/shoebox.msnw
Yes, that is a good picture. My favorite is on page 3, picture 103. Her pack is in the picture next to 103. When Winter and I were crossing the Presidentials on my thru we met a couple girls who had the job of painting white blazes on the trail. One of the girls painted a white blaze on winters pack and said, "all I have to do is follow the white blaze and I won't get lost." she was right. The pack hangs on the chair next to Winter's bed in the dining room. If anyone touches the pack Winter is up and ready to go hike. However, the arthritis in her hind end says that there will be no more hikes for Winter.
The photos and comments are making readers more aware of the fun of taking your pet on a hike or camping. Please keep them coming. I think they are very enjoyable and a good way to share with others the fun of having our "best friend" along with us. -SunnyWalker

Sometimes our "best friends" can save your life. I was injured early during my hike from GA to NH this year and I was immobilized in a draw somewhere near Cowrock Mountain in GA (both ankles were badly sprained). My dog helped me find water and was instrumental at helping me find my camp in the thick brush. He stayed under my hammock for 3 days of icy rain until I was able to hike back to Neels Gap. Trully a hero dog. Here he is perfectly comfortable in a cold wet environment.
