Has anyone tried this one out? The breathability figures are high considering the waterproofness on the material.

I received mine two weeks ago. I could not find any reviews so did a Q&A session with Zpacks. Based on that I pulled the trigger. I love the simplicity and it has all the features I was looking for. Its light weight and feels more like a wind jacket. I've tried it in a few rains and love it, but I have not tried it on an extended trip hauling gear and working up a sweat. That will be the true test.
Thanks. The last link covers the Vertice.
LOL - very true!
That is so true, I've been bushwalking for over 40 years and wouldn't presume to do gear reviews etc because without actual scientific testing they are just your opinion. Plus I'm still learning, actually picked up a few ideas on the AT this year from newbies that had a approached a problem in a new way and it worked. Plus walked while it was snowing for the first time, that was a buzz.
People do one thru hike, admittingly a long one and next thing they have youtube channels, websites offering gear reviews and tips. There was one on a thread here offered up a 3.4kg (7.5lb) coleman popup tent as a lightweight tent option. They have a webpage doing gear reviews and offering advice, and on the review of that tent said they wouldn't use it if is was raining.
No wonder new people to hiking get confused.
