I predicted years ago can openers will be obsolite . With more in pouches and popoff cans, you don't need one like years ago. There will come a time when a p38 will be extra useless weight.
I have one on my key ring at all times. I've even wore one out! Never used it on the trail but plan to carry mine to the grave.

A P-38 is one of those things that's better to have it and not need it, than .....
I got rid of the P38 a few years ago when Hormel chili made their cans pop top.
That is the only canned stuff I carry when I'm doing a quick, short trip into the woods to test something and don't want to waste one my my MH dinners.
