This shelter is on a .5 mile spur trail off the AT. This spur goes down a steep descent of 250 feet. It is located in a quiet hollow with some of the best spring water on the AT coming out of a pipe within 20 yards of the shelter. Joel McKenzie. May 8, 2005.

The PVC-piped spring is behind the shelter and the best and coldest water you will ever taste on the AT. Nice shelter and camping area, too.
