Description by Irish Eddy
Approximately 1.0 mile north of Center Point Knob, there are several pits located just east of the trail. It looked like a battlefield after an artillery barrage. A local man informed me that these were the remnants of iron ore pits that had been mined in the 1800s for the Carlisle Furnace, which can still be seen in Boiling Springs. This is a view from the trail looking east from a location approximately 1.0 mile north of Center Point Knob. SoBo 1069.1 NoBo 1110.0
