    We crossed Camel's Hump on August 15, 1979, our shortest day of our SOBO Long Trail thru-hike...a whopping 2.6 miles from the old, breezy Gorham Lodge on the north slope of Camel's Hump to ancient Montclair Glen Lodge on a rainy, cold, socked in day. We justified stopping early given the potential for nice views the next day.
