Only shelter (and privy) between Cheoah Bald and NOC. At the time of this picture, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, this privy rated a -4! It was rough.

Is this shelter perhaps the worst one outside of Walnut Mtn. shelter, in NC?

this shelter is awful..spent the night there with weasel..he thought it was going to rain ..I thought that it might not..we made a bet..i lost...I still owe him the $$$$

My first ever AT shelter experience took place here during a July section out of Wesser. Best I can say; it was dry and had a spring. As to gnarliest shelter, I have to say Cold Springs, hands down.

The shelter's improved but the last time I was there, the privy remained a portal to hell. -
