This looks like Daleville, in which case this is US-220, not VA-222.
I took advantage of the Pizza Hut in October 2003 after 6 days on the trail from Buena Vista. I covered the 11.5 miles from Wilson Creek Shelter in under 4 hours so I could devour a large pizza by myself.
The mall is to the left from this trailhead (compass North, trail heading "west"), while there are a number of motels to the right, along with several AYCE buffets on the other side of I-81. -

kerosene your right its 220 and to get to the buffets you have to go right and pass under the overpass on I-80 and the buffets are on the right.
