Step 3a – Make the joint
We want to fold the last 1” of the flashing edge back on itself. Mark a line running the width of the flashing 1” from the edge. Place the line at the edge of your workbench and carefully fold the flashing down and crease the bend with the flat stick. Once the crease is made, turn the flashing over and use the stick to fold the 1” tab you just made back on itself. Use the stick to ‘iron’ the crease flat. Don’t worry, the flashing won’t break. Now you have a 1” tab that is bent back on itself.
