I got to know a lot of cows up close and personal on the trail where it goes through pasture. The barb wire is to protect the post from the cows.

Walked through a lot of nice pastures although I prefer the green tunnel. Recall a pasture like this one and there was a riight angle to it and when I got past the tree line there was a huge bull standing there. He snorted and started to advance on me. I dropped my pack and made it to the wood line. He fortuately got interested in something else and walked to other end of pasture.
