View north and east from Jug End encompasses pretty much the entire AT landscape--all the way to Mt Greylock.

The trail leading up to this point follows an undulating, twisty path through low, gnarled pines and is very reminiscent of the Cape Cod National Seashore (surprising to find at 1,500 feet in far Western MA). It's a great section of hiking.

I remember looking down into those lowlands, and thinking “there are billions of mosquitoes down there” and being so glad to be thru it. (Was SOBO)
