Description by Irish Eddy

Irish Eddy

Assateague National Seashore is inhabited by many wild pones. Local folklore has it that they are the descendants of surviviors of Spanish galleon shipwrecks along the Maryland and Virginia coasts. Howver, they are most likely the descendants of livestock brought to the isalnd for grazing by the early colonists. Please remember that they are wild and they bite. Do not get too close, and do not feed them.
