Google is your friend. Short version: a military cargo plane was heading home from Europe with mostly mail. It last left Newfoundland at a refuel stop and departed into bad weather on June 20, 1944 headed for Washington DC. The crew of six plus one passenger got lost and slammed into the mountain, killing all 7 instantly. This is not an easy trip.
