M65 Field Jacket Liner Mod - My objective was a ultra cheap representation of Mont-bell's UL thermawrap/down liner, within my sewing skills (which aren't great). I added a zipper, closed up the armpit openings, added elastic cuffs and an elastic waist drawstring. Total cost $9.77. Size large weighs in at 12oz.
Why the crooked zip? Made this for my bro in laws (Banana Dan and Mighty Mouse) who can't afford the Mont-bell and are V-shaped from the waist up.

Good mods! I too use this liner buttoned in a surplus Army field jacket (60/40 cotton/nylon) "Back in the Day" (the 70s) when I couldn't afford better. Kept me warm to 0 F. if I layered properly.
Now I have a British Army style jacket and pants insulating layer of Thermolite that does the trick very well, even in a sleeping bag to extend the bag's range.

I worn M65 liners for years in the Air Force. We would take out heavily starched blouses off right after guardmount and wear the liners like smoking jacket.
Over a wool sweater and under a gortex jacket I never got cold. -
