Hibiscus

I transplanted this plant to my corner lot ~2 yrs ago when it was about 4 ft tall. It then grew to about 6 ft and was doing really well, but the unusually cold weather during winter 2008 killed it, so I cut it down and left a stump.

Early spring this year (2009) I noticed a strange weed-like thing growing very close to that stump; the thought that it may be the hibiscus returning seemed too much of wishful thinking. I remulched the area just in case and sure enough it was a new hibiscus. It's now about 3ft tall (9-19-09) and there are numerous buds. It actually looks healthier than ever before.
