Assateague Island National Seashore: Life of the Marsh Trail

This sign offers some very good advice. If you do not stay on the trail, you will get wet and muddy, in addition to the other hazards mentioned here. Since this is a national park, there are no efforts to control the insect population. If walking during the late spring or summer, it would be a good idea to use some sort of bug repellant. If walking after the first frost in late autumn, the insects will no longer be a problem.
