South of the NOC, view from the fire tower. One of the best views in the southern section. I can't wait to go back again.

I agree. We were there on the 4th of July in 1998 and it was amazing to watch all the fireworks in the valleys from the tower. The FBI had been using the tower / immediate area for a command post while they were looking for Eric Rudolph when we arrived. They had driven ATV\'s up the old road from Telico Gap to the clearing under the tower and were removing their gear.

Water Rock Knob is the big multiple peak in the background. That's right on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
