Windy, gloomy climb out of Tellico Gap. No views as we started up the tower, all of a sudden this. Any wonder why we hike?

Wesser Bald Tower is one of my favorite places on the AT. One Halloween we parked at Telico Gap and I packed a 4" telescope to the tower. It was so windy I couldn't set it up on the tower but the views from the ground of Saturn and Jupiter were outstanding. 3 college students hiked up late and I was able to give them their first look at Saturn and Jupiter. They thanked me over and over for packing the scope up to the tower.
Great picture Saluki Dave but those of us who have been there know, like most of the ones I've posted, the photo doesn't do the view justice. -

I believe it was September 2003. We were walking through the remans of a tropical storm.
