A.t. Near Ensign Phillip Cowall Memorial Shelter, Md, 06/06/09

It should be noted that there are two access trails from the A.T. to the Ensign Phillip Cowall Memorial ShelterSoBo 1133.7. NoBo 1044.6. One is just south of the shelter and the other is just north of the shelter. For northbounders, both access trails are to the left or west of the A.T. and are marked with a sign for "Tent Pads." The shelter cannot be seen from A.T. at the southern access trail, which is located almost opposite of the access trail for the spring, but can be seen from the A.T. at the northen access trail. This is a view of the A.T. looking north between the two access trails to the shelter as the trail makes a gradual ascent from approximately 1400 feet elevation to over 1700 feet elevation.
