Description by Irish Eddy
Approximately 0.1 mile south of the Antietam Shelter, the A.T. crosses the Antietam Creek East Branch. There are actually two footbridges which cross the Antietam Creek East Branch. The southern bridge connects the south bank to an island, and the northern bridge connects the island to the north bank. To the east of these two bridges is a third foot bridge which connects the north bank to the island where the Antietam Shelter is located. This a view of the northern footbridge on the A.T. looking north from the island. The privy for the Antietam Shelter can be seen in the upper left. SoBo 1117.1 NoBo 1062.0
