A.T. Near Dead Woman Hollow, P A, 11/25/11

For northbounders, north of Shippensburg Road for approximately one mile, the A.T. continues along Big Flat on South Mountain and descends from approximately 2000 feet elevation to approximately 1850 feet elevation before rising again to 2000. This is a view of the A.T. looking west from a location approximately one half mile north of the Shippensburg Road crossing. Here the A.T. crosses a small stream which flows east into Dead Woman Hollow, named for an unidentified woman who was bitten by a snake and died in this valley. SoBo 1092.5 NoBo 1084.7.
