Description by celt
The Green Mountain Club lists this as a shelter in the latest edition of the Long Trail Guide but because it is a private building they ask you check with them before planning to use it. There is no water here so hikers must haul it either from the Bromley Tenting Site (south) or Mad Tom Notch (north) both are two to two-and-a-half miles from the summit. Otherwise this is a great camping spot. The building has wooden sleeping platforms, tables, benches and plenty of floor space. The summit is grassy and flat, great for tenting. The observation tower is of course great for views. The GMC built a privy in 2002 eliminating the temptation to use what is possibly the scariest outhouse on the trail: an old two seater that barely had the strength to hold itself up nevermind a hiker.
