Description by Irish Eddy

Irish Eddy

Approximately 1.0 mile north of the Old Town Road crossing, the A.T. begins a descent from Rocky Ridge in Pennsylvania. There are still a few rock formations to negotiate as the trail descends from over 1150 feet in elevation to approximately 800 feet in elevation before reaching Whiskey Spring Road. Occasionally on Rocky Ridge the white blazes can be found at your feet as the trail goes over the rocks. This is a view of the trail looking north from a location approximately 1.2 mile north of the Old Town Road crossing. Note the white blaze on the rock ledge in the center of the photograph. This rock ledge is about 4 feet high. For northbounders it is negotiated by getting a running start and hopping up. SoBo 1073.3 NoBo 1105.8.
