I just never got a warm fuzzy feeling hiking in New York-New Jersey. Maybe the trail is too close to the city and the attitude of the signage reflect that.

See the thread today regarding ATV regulations on our National Forests. Although the AT in NY/NJ does not cross any National Forest lands, ATV use is a problem in many areas. The area just north of Wildcat Shelter by the road crossing is one example. An illegal ATV trail was cut right across the trail, hence, the signage.

It looks like it might take a while to steal those signs. There must be a surplus of nails in that part of the country.

Hmmmm, here in SW Ohio, ALL of the "No hunting" signs have either bullet holes or shotgun holes in them. Plus a few road signs are well ventilated. At first that is what I thought the nails were.
Good picture tho.
