Description by Strategic

These are the ruins of old highland charcoal burner's settlements along the trail north of Fitzgerald Falls in the uplands of Sterling Forest. Only the foundations, wall bases, and charcoal rings are left. These little villages supplied charcoal to the iron industry further north around Bear Mountain in the 18th and 19th centuries.

There are charcoal circles south of RPH Cabin.I have found about four of them just off the trail.
