In 1998 this was the first Smokies shelter to be renovated. They kept the stone walls and chainlink fence (unfortunetly), built a roof with a skylight, added improved bunks, seating, cooking areas and light. Even the mouse strings had custom, conical mouse guards on all the food hangers when I was there in '99.
