From seeing so much damage that a can of paint in the hands of a person who's main goal in life is to spray paint their name on a rock or shelter(Hay Rock in Va for example.) I think the folks at Baxter are putting out the wrong message that it's ok to paint on the rocks. That's just my opinion.....

This was not done by the folks at Baxter, but by a youth organization outside the park. The boulder is not in the park, but on the approach a couple of miles before the Togue Pond Gate. I think this is a painting that can be admired and since it is a distance out of the park, I have no problem with what was done. There is a difference between graffiti and painting. Where it was done is private land.
