Early April 2005 - made for a cold ford! Bridge washed out from Hurricane Jeanne

I forded in late May, and while it was cold it was a warm day and my feet felt great for several miles afterwards. I debated on whether to ford or take the road bypass, especially since everyone I passed had water up to mid-thigh. It turned out that they must have just slogged on through without much thought, since the water only got up to me knees as I picked submerged rocks to hop from. It's a good thing I had hiking poles!

I forded it SOBO in early April - the water was cold, swift, and mid-thigh high. But worse was the "reward" for fording: 3 steep PUDs. But it's better than a road walk! Pine Swamp Shelter felt mighty good that night.
