Description for The AT leaves US Highway 460

While going south on The Trail, just after crossing the New River Bridge, the AT stays behind the guard rails of US Highway 460 for a short while. Just before the guard rails end, The Trail veers right, and goes into thick grass. Even if you're planning to go into town, following this portion of the AT is probably just as fast as -- and definitely safer than -- continuing to walk along the shoulder of US Highway 460.
