There is a fire ring built with rocks at almost every campsite along the trail. I follow LNT and only planning to build fire at shelters. I did two section hikes so far and have not built a fire yet.

Nice to return to the site...I was inches from starting a hike about 3 or 4 years ago, and am once again going to attempt to straighten my affairs out and get preparations underway for 2013 start! This is all I have ever wanted to do and cannot figure out why I am allowing myself to keep putting it off! I have decided that I would like to try and turn 40 on the trail! Talk about a great setting for a mid-life crisis!!! Any advice is welcome!
