One of many trees down after the windstorms of late 2006 block the BMT
in the Slickrock Creek Wilderness, TN. I'll bet a lot of people don't realize that motorized equipment isn't allowed to be used in wilderness areas and all trail work has to be done the old fashioned way.

That is HARD work - thanks to that crew and thanks for posting these pics. More people need to see the hard work that volunteers perform. -

Hmm..I just assumed that chain saws would be allowed for trail maintenance..wondered why they were using the old fashioned cross cut saw. Thought maybe they were just gluttons for self punishment...lol...Now I know.. -
