Frost On The Window

This is the old Mad Tom shelter, a standard USFS 1960s lean-to that in the late 80s had sliding doors with windows installed due windy conditions at its location. The shelter was originally located off of FS 21 at Mad Tom Notch near the roadside water pump and in 1980 was moved about a mile or so south on the AT towards Bromley Mt. I spent the night there in 1992 with great views to the west. It was removed in 1997 or 1998 due to reports of it falling off of its footings. I imagine the lumber was just disposed of as it was not relocated.
