I spent the night there in the early '90s. It was one of the worst shelters on the AT in New England due to the easy access via dirt road, partying, etc. There was an unusual amount of mouse activity there, too, being in the middle of a field at low elevation with abundant water nearby. As of 2009, I don't know if the road access problem has been addressed. I heard some time ago that the state of Vt. had some ideas to limit accessability. -

Also, it would have been difficult for him to fit under the awning.
