For northbounders, north of the Rocky Mountain Shelter the A.T. traverses through and around several large rocky outcrops while making a 3.0 mile descent to Caledonia State Park. This is a view of the trail looking south from a location approximately 0.3 mile north of the Rocky Mountain Shelter. Yes, the trail does go through there, and finding your way can be a little tricky. Note the white blaze on the second tree from the right. SoBo 1108.9 NoBo 1070.2.
