This was one of my most memorable days: October 29, 2008, 4-6" of snow the prior day, sustained winds of 40 mph with gusts up to perhaps 70, temperature starting from Carvers Gap of 15F, under a brilliant blue sky. There were times when I was questioning my sanity walking across the balds, but the payback was fantastic!
