Description by Irish Eddy
For northbounders, immediately after leaving Forge Park, the A.T. crosses Bucher Hill Road and continues north along the east shore of Children's Lake. This seven-acre body of water was formed by partially damming the brook fed from 30 natural springs. Children's Lake is home to many ducks, swans, and geese throughout the year. The lake dates to the 1750s when the dam was used to provide water power for iron production. This is a view of the trail looking north from a location just north of the Bucher Hill Road crossing.
