M65 Field Jacket Liner Mod - My objective was a ultra cheap representation of Mont-bell's UL thermawrap/down liner, within my sewing skills (which aren't great). I added a zipper, closed up the armpit openings, added elastic cuffs and an elastic waist drawstring. Total cost $9.77. Size large weighs in at 12oz.

I too have decided to use the liner. Your upgrades look great and make sense. Thanks for the ideas. sfdoc

Have you considered using the poncho liner? I find that it provides instant het when used as a supplement to my bag when the temps dip. sfdoc

Love the poncho liner so much I made my own quilt to replicate it. Upsides: cheap, washable, durable, fairly light for the warmth (45* would be pushing it). Downsides: too short for us tall guys (Im 6-3) to wrap over our heads if its really cool. "Heavy" if you're a lightweight guru. I think the 'cho liner weighs in at ~21oz. Mine came in at 20oz and is prolly just over 7' long.
