Yep, looks like the late-70s: neon-colored nylon external frame packs, huge sleeping bags (or tent?), round scout canteen, jeans, and long shaggy haircuts. -

Mid-70's Chevy Vega was Jim's brother's car. I carried the Jansport ruck and Jim used the K-Mart frame pack. Sleeping bags were 10-12 pounds each. That was my all time favorite t-shirt (EMS!) with the outdoor gear forming the Aztec calendar. Not sure my shorts would fly in the modern era. Photo was taken in Tonawanda, NY
