This common butterfly was found along the banks of the Tellico River in the Cherokee NF.

    This butterfly has tails, so it is a Swallowtail. The Audubon Field Guide to North American Butterflies identifies it as a Pipevine Swallowtail. If you look closely, you can see it\'s tongue entended drinking water.
