Uncle Wayne

I tried to capture the scene National Geographic did in their magazine article but failed to do it. A beautiful setting but a long hike from the trail.

Uncle Wayne, are the big bullfrogs still at Punchbowl?.

    What National Geographic article?

Yes, the big bullfrogs were still there when we visited. I scared several as I walked around the pond to get this shot. There was a hornets nest in the roof of the shelter. We were very careful not to disturb them!

I can't remember the year but National Geographic did an article on the AT and one of the pictures was of this shelter looking across the Pond. It's much better than mine.

Cool shelter with the pond out front. I noticed a large piece of old concrete out by the pond. I wonder how long this pond has been here and what the history of it is. An old homestead or farm?
