    Yes, BIG BUMMER. These rocks used to be covered with soil, grass, plants, trees, and animals. Now, this. Thanks to the short-sighted, greed-driven, anti-environmentalists who think it costs too much to value the earth over quick profits for unregulated businesses.

    Good progress has been made greening this desolate place with trees and grass in the almost 12 years since this photo was taken in June 2004.The AT was relocated from the ridge top shown in the photo to about 200 feet below the ridge to give the area a chance to reinvigorate itself, and it's doing so quite nicely.In another 20 to 30 years, you won't recognize this place from what you see in the photo.
