Description by celt
Tired old shelter with much signs of wear such as porky teeth marks and holes in the sleeping platform. Though the roof is sound and you'll stay dry in a rain storm. Plenty of water in a brook. Just over five miles from The Inn At Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail at Maine Junction. May '04: According to the GMC's website the old shelter has been removed. A new shelter was built on the same site in August '04.

Have stayed here three times. Back in '81 this section of forest was being almost totally defoliated by gypsy moth caterpillars. It was almost like a horror movie as they were all over the ground and on surfaces inside the shelter

this old classic has been rebuilt as of late summer 2004, now a nice place for the night just a short distance north of the AT on the LT

I stayed here a few nights into my SOBO LT thru-hike in \'79, before the gypsy moths took over.
